Is, as I feared, little more than a 2 hour Channel commercial (no channel product placement - just the style of one looooooong channel commercial). All the good parts? Already shown in the commercials (yes, they're that brief).
I spent the whole time thinking that it looked like it was filmed with the intention of immediately being redone as a play. Turns out that's because it's based on a play, which I didn't know.
I did know, however, that it's also loosely based on the Fellini film 8½. That helps a lot. Well, it helped me stay in my seat and not walk out.
I read that Fergie's performance was "a revelation". Really? It wasn't long enough to be much of anything to me.
Nicole Kidman's costumes, with boobs clearly much larger than her own/real ones, was distracting.
I liked Penelope Cruz' character (little slut!).
Kate Hudson reminds me more and more of her mother every time I see her. Doing 60s dances just added to the effect.
The dancing & burlesque are good. "Moulin Rouge" and/or "Chicago" it ain't. Mostly boring, it is.
But it got me out of the house (and my pajamas) for 3 hours. Now I'm safe & warm, back in both of them.
happy holidays to my lovely neighbors and may I present to you:
Holiday Randoms:
--It's been a good one so far - except for some of the family getting sick and us having to dodge each other so as not to pass it around.
--My brother and his wife stayed with me for a couple of nights. He's seven years younger than me and still I think he's more balanced, conscious and respectful than so many men my age. (and he must have told me he loved me five times before leaving.) :)
--My girl (well, woman I suppose now that17 is rapidly approaching) is and always has been so amazingly thoughtful and thankful on Christmas morning. She never was one of those kids who just rip through everything in 30 seconds. She always gives me a gift from her first. Then she opens one at a time, spending time looking at everything carefully and thanking me after every single thing. I adore this soul.
--Tomorrow Sarah and I are finally meeting and hanging out. Excited!
--Making a Red Velvet cake today. Inner Child: "Kind of secretly wanted to make it in the shape of Jesus. Then when we cut it...well, you get the idea. I don't think Jesus would have a problem with it because I'm positive that he has a wicked sense of humor. He has to. Look at us. Plus he loves me."
--Whenever something drops or an unexpected noise is made, my head hears a tune to the sound of it. This is bizarre I know.
--Baby and Mary played the parts of, well, the virgin Mary and the Baby in the Nativity scene.
The beer is DadH's, a thoughtful gift from Brother Ray. I thought it went well with my MSU snuggie. The Girls thought the remote would be a nice touch for the photo.
Now the Girls are trying to ride the unicycle from MomH. They should pick a different spot instead of next to the kitchen table and in front of the stairs to the basement.
I'll upload a photo of head wounds later. Ha ha!
